Wal-Mart Stores Inc. announc–ed Tuesday it will open its three area Walmart Neighborhood Markets June 12 in Arlington, Mandarin and Middleburg.

The stores, which collectively employ about 200 people, will operate from 6 a.m. to midnight daily.

They are at:

• 8011 Merrill Road in Jacksonville

• 10550 Old St. Augustine Road in Jacksonville

• 2570 County Road 220 in Middleburg

The stores are about 40,000 square feet in size and offer groceries, pharmacy services and household goods.

A "Big Family Welcome" is planned 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 15 at each store. Customers can meet store managers and there will be family activities and food samples.

Grand-opening celebrations include presentations of grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups.

Wal-Mart said the Walmart Neighborhood Markets, much smaller than the average 182,000-square-foot Walmart Supercenters, offer a full grocery department, including organic and natural selections.

The stores offer fresh produce, a deli, a self-serve bakery, prepared foods, fresh-baked breads and more.

The first Walmart Neighborhood Market opened in 1998. There are about 250 nationwide.
