Construction pending for Metro Diner at Roosevelt Square

Metro Diner is preparing for a $400,000 renovation at Roosevelt Square for a 3,705-square-foot restaurant.

The restaurant, shown on plans with 112 seats, will be across the parking lot from Belk. It will be in Space 408 at the Roosevelt Boulevard center.

Dakenna Development Inc. is the contractor.

Davolis Food Co. IV LLC, run by the Davolis who own the Metro Diners around town, is the owner of the project. Davolis Food previously asked for a zoning exception for outside sales and service of food at the planned Roosevelt Square restaurant.

Metro Diner seeks a zoning exception to offer outdoor patio seating at the location.

Metro Diners operate at 3302 Hendricks Ave., 12807 San Jose Blvd. and 1534 Third St. N. in Jacksonville Beach.

Metro Diner owners Mark and John Davoli recently said the Roosevelt Square location would open July 29. The diners operate 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. for breakfast and lunch seven days a week.

Subway planned at St. Vincent's

Plans were filed for a Subway restaurant at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Riverside in the Dillon Building.

Building plans indicate a "future yogurt shop" next to it.

Subway is planned at 3 Shircliff Way, No. 101. Weyer Custom Renovations Inc. is listed as the contractor to build-out the 1,211-square-foot space at a cost of $108,000.

Plans show it is near the cafeteria.

Nightclub planned along Philips Highway

Site plans are in review for a nightclub at 6105 Philips Highway, south of Bowden Road.

Hartsock Enterprises Inc. bought the property in February for $625,000.

Plans show the existing 10,041-square-foot building will be removed and a nightclub will be built on the 1.73-acre site.

Sunshine Stucco Supply Inc. formerly occupied the site before relocating to 5323 Philips Highway.

Plans refer to the project as the proposed "Ice House."

Site plans show a 4,000-square-foot building while a mobility-fee application shows a 4,800-square-foot development.

Both show a nightclub of about 2,800 square feet, with one showing more storage space than the other.

The engineer is DB Civil Works and the architect is Robert A. Maurer Architect.

4 Rivers opens this week

4 Rivers Smokehouse opens this week at 9220 Baymeadows Road, just east of Interstate 95. The restaurant, owned by Jacksonville native John Rivers, opens with a limited menu Wednesday and Thursday. It's in full swing Friday when Chef John is in town. The Gainesville restaurant should open by the end of August.

The Winter Park-based company has three restaurants in the Orlando area. Those restaurants are open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday-Saturday. The restaurants are closed Sunday.

The Jacksonville restaurant includes The Sweet Shop, a bakery concept begun in 2011 featuring Southern-inspired cookies, bars, cupcakes and cakes.

The Baymeadows building was formerly a Roadhouse Grill. Rivers bought and renovated it.
