Your Pie coming to Tapestry Park

The "Your Pie — Express Your Inner Pizza" restaurant is coming to Tapestry Park in Southside.

Auld & White Constructors LLC is shown on a building-permit application as the contractor of the $200,000 build-out of a 3,000-square-foot restaurant at 4828 Deer Lake Drive W., Units 1 and 3. R. Dean Scott Architectural is the designer.

Plans show seating for 71 inside and 12 outside.

The yourpie.com website shows a location open in Fleming Island and one "coming soon" to Jacksonville.

The site shows 11 locations in Georgia, two in South Carolina, one in Tennessee and three in Florida, with locations coming soon in Jacksonville and Lighthouse Point.

The site says the concept of Your Pie began in May 2006 when founder Drew French was inspired to cook pizzas in brick ovens during his honeymoon, visiting his wife's family on the island of Ischia.

"Drew fell in love with the brick-oven style of baking pizza, and the rest of the Your Pie concept grew from that experience," it says.

Your Pie opened its first location in April 2008 in Athens, Ga.

"Your Pie is the innovator of the pizza experience, daring customers to create their perfect pie," says the site. The restaurant also offers paninis and salads.

Newk's showing signs

The City approved two awnings and three signs for Newk's Eatery at the Parkway Shops at River City Marketplace.

The restaurant is planned at 14964 Max Leggett Parkway. Heritage Signs is the contractor for the signs at a project cost of $7,500.

As the Daily Record reported Feb. 12, Newk's Eatery will open in the Parkway Shops in the North Jacksonville River City Marketplace shopping center.

Construction was approved for the 207-seat restaurant at a project cost of $450,000. Dakenna Development Inc. is the contractor.

The new North Jacksonville Newk's Eatery will be the second in the area. The first Jacksonville Newk's restaurant opened in Southside at 9047-1 Southside Blvd.

Plans filed with the City show interior build-out for the Parkway Shops restaurant in 4,234 square feet of space near the Dick's Sporting Goods, Marshalls and Ulta Beauty stores. Plans show indoor seating for 151 patrons and outdoor seating for 56.

The Newks.com site describes the Jackson, Miss.-based restaurant chain as "an express casual dining experience in a refreshing and stylish atmosphere with an emphasis on freshness and flavor."

It says its menu includes fresh tossed salads, oven-baked sandwiches, California-style pizzas, made-from-scratch soups and homemade cakes from Newk's open kitchen.
