Executive Director, The Arc Jacksonville

The Arc Jacksonville's mission is to provide advocacy and quality services that enable people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve their full potential, enhance their quality of life, and be active participants in their communities.

Serving Jacksonville

Serving Jacksonville since 1965.

Those served

About 400 individuals in Duval, Clay and St. Johns counties are receiving services.

Biggest challenge

Changes and reductions in funding, creating and designing new service options for individuals who remain on the state waiting list for funding (currently 22,000 statewide).

Biggest satisfaction

Over the past several decades being part of and witnessing significant changes in how individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are now accepted and included in their communities.

I grew up in Miami.

First experience with community service

As a teenager, I worked at Sunland Training Center, which was a state institution for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Your job before The Arc Jacksonville

Before joining The Arc Jacksonville 12 years ago, I worked for other organizations providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for my entire professional career.

Upcoming events

Oct. 16: 6-8 p.m., Hyatt Downtown, dinner to highlight achievements of program participants in education and employment – areas that lead to economic independence – and to highlight community partners that employ individuals with disabilities.
