The goal of a new design studio specializing in branding, art direction, digital media, innovation and creativity is to push Jacksonville forward in innovation by helping startup businesses become successful.

“By starting small businesses and nonprofits, it’s a way to provide … innovation,” said Charde Fuller, the One Spark creator of Fresh Breu, a Jacksonville design studio. “By helping these businesses it will help push Jacksonville forward.”

Fuller always knew that she wanted to launch a design studio, so she took the necessary steps to fulfill her lifelong dream. Fuller graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2011.

After college, Fuller worked with the Sundance Film Festival in Utah and Nylon Magazine in New York City. After getting a taste of real-world designing, Fuller decided it was time to open her own design studio, and what better place to launch than One Spark?

“It takes time to build courage to start a studio or business,” Fuller said. “One Spark gives people the courage.”

For now, Fuller’s design company consists of her and her marketing specialist, Thea Ny. Fuller works from home, but hopes to progress into a full studio with the help of One Spark. The creator is asking for $10,000 at the festival.

“I hope to expand and bring bigger clients to Jacksonville because that brings more eyes here and helps bring in more innovation and creativity,” Fuller said.

Fresh Breu currently provides services from research and problem-solving to branding and logo design. What sets Fresh Breu apart from other design studios, Fuller said, is the option of hand-lettering on large scales such as buildings and small scale such as business cards.

Hand-lettering is something businesses can choose, which consists of Fuller designing a font with the stroke of her hand.

“Doing everything from research to the final product, gives me a better understanding of the companies and organizations,” Fuller said. “Putting in all my effort makes for a better outcome for each company and organization.”

Fuller hopes to use One Spark as a way to get the Fresh Breu name out there, make connections and educate the public about what it means to be a designer. Fresh Breu will be located at the Workscapes venue.

She plans to set up a pop-up studio at her venue where she will have a computer station set up for people to browse her official website. She is also holding a raffle, so people can win prizes and merchandise.

Future plans include designing a mobile app called Start-Up to help people push their projects forward.

“Helping small businesses grow so they can be successful will help the community get Jacksonville going in innovation,” Fuller said. “This is my goal.”
