Community involvement: As a not-for-profit, legal aid tax attorney, I dedicate any extra time and resources to my job at Three Rivers Legal Services Inc.
How did you become involved?
I learned of Three Rivers Legal Services Inc. (Three Rivers) after earning my LL.M. in Taxation at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. Immediately after graduating and relocating to Jacksonville, I reached out to Three Rivers and picked up a few pro bono cases. Three Rivers is an incredible organization that provides free legal services to 17 counties in North Florida. The opportunity to have a direct impact on a person's life by bringing peace and resolution to legal problems gave me an indescribable feeling of fulfillment. As my Executive Director Allison Thompson puts it, after completing my first pro bono case "I was hooked" and committed to performing pro bono work.
How can someone else become involved?

What have you learned/achieved through the experience?
As a new LITC director and pro bono coordinator, every day is a learning process. However, I learned that despite negative propaganda about attorneys and the practice of law, there is a vast amount of selfless lawyers who dedicate countless hours and resources to underserved community members.
