The fourth annual Charity Chili Cook-Off is right around the corner.
The Young Lawyers Section will continue the tradition of fun, chili and charity from 1-4 p.m. March 1 at the Florida Coastal School of Law. All three prior installments have been great successes thanks to the generosity of Jacksonville's legal community.
There are many ways you can participate in the Chili Cook-Off. First, you can be an event sponsor, which entitles you to include your company's logo on all promotional materials for the event.
Next, you could break out your family's secret chili recipe and enter a team into the event. By entering a team, you are entitled to admission for four to the event and a chance to win the coveted chili cook-off trophy with its related bragging rights.
Or you could simply attend the event and enjoy all that is has to offer. As with prior years, there will be beer, wine, desserts and live music to complement the several chilis you will enjoy. The event will be family friendly with activities to keep the kids entertained. There will be a suggested donation of $10 per ticket to the event.
YLS is committed to ensuring that the Chili Cook-Off benefits the Jacksonville community. All funds raised from the event will be donated to Jacksonville Area Legal Aid. All attorneys know the invaluable assistance that JALA provides to Jacksonville's most needy residents.
Each team's chili will be judged by a distinguished panel of local judges. Solomon Lodge No. 20 won the first two Chili Cook-Off trophies. However, last year team CORNBREAD took home the hardware.
Please note that this year's event is open to the entire Jacksonville community, not just the legal community. All are welcome! Please feel free to invite any friends in the business or professional community who would enjoy the fun and fellowship offered at the event.
If you are interested in supporting or attending the Young Lawyers Section Charity Chili Cook-Off, please contact Lindsay Tygart at [email protected] or (904) 399-1609 for more information.
We expect the upcoming Chili Cook-Off to be bigger, better and more fun than prior years. For those who have been to the past events, you know that is quite a large undertaking. Please mark your calendars for March 1 and we look forward to seeing you all there.
The YLS is proud to report that the Holidays in January Event held on Jan. 11 was a huge success.
The YLS provided 21 foster children identified by Family Support Services with bicycles or scooters, helmets, goodie bags and a visit from Santa Claus. The Northeast Florida Paralegal Association generously provided three fun activity stations that allowed the foster children to decorate cookies, complete a Christmas craft and get their faces painted.
After lunch, the event ended with free access to the Jacksonville Zoo for all of the foster children and their foster families. A great time was had by all.
The YLS would like to thank everyone that made this event possible by donating their time, funds and/or other resources. The YLS encourages you to support the Jacksonville zoo to give back to an organization that gave the foster children and their respective foster families so much.
