Family Support Services of North Florida Inc. is moving from its Southside offices to 1300 Riverplace Blvd. on the Southbank Downtown.

According to a building permit issued by the city, 26,000 square feet on the seventh and eigth floors of the AvMed Building will be built out at a cost of $569,697.

The space was formerly occupied by the U.S. Postal Service.

The organization is moving out of four buildings at Midtown Centre. The relocation will allow operations to consolidate, said Chuck Young, Family Support Services chief operating officer.

“There will be more efficiency in operations and a faster response in decision-making,” he said.

Young said the Southbank address also puts FSS in a more central location. The staff of more than 80 people will move into the new space by April.

Victor Hughes, owner’s representative for PKY 1300 Riverplace LLC, said the space had been on the market for about three months. When Family Support Services moves in, the building will be 90 percent leased.

Family Support Services is a nonprofit organization that provides all child protection services previously provided by the state Department of Children and Families.
