Ester Rada and Al Jarreau among headliners for Jacksonville Jazz Festival

Ester Rada, Al Jarreau, Boney James, Pedrito Martinez Group, Average White Band, Traces of Blue, the Latin Jazz All Stars, and Sax and the City featuring Marion Meadows & Paul Taylor will headline the 2014 Jacksonville Jazz Festival.

The festival is May 22-25.

Local artists scheduled to perform include Gary Starling, Akia Uwanda, J.B. Scott’s Swinging All Stars, Jacksonville University Jazz Combo, Unique Sound, The Katz Downstairs, Linda Cole & The Joshua Bowlus Quartet, Von Barlow, Just Jazz Quartet and the Jazz Jam with Lisa Kelly.

The festival, presented by AARP, will feature a variety of jazz genres on three stages along with activities in The Elbow entertainment district.

The city Office of Special Events has moved the venue from along the Laura Street corridor between Hemming Plaza and the Landing to East Bay Street from the Shipyards property to Newnan

Street.

In addition to music on three stages, the festival offers Art in the Heart Downtown, an art show and sale; the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition, presented by Keyboard Connection Pianos & Organs at the Florida Theatre; the Youth Jazz Talent Showcase; Jazz After Dark; and the Sunday Jazz Brunch at the Omni Downtown.
