Container cranes take a cruise
Two large container cranes traveled under the Dames Point Bridge on Sunday on their way up the St. Johns River from JaxPort’s Blount Island Marine Terminal in North Jacksonville to the port’s Talleyrand Marine Terminal near Downtown. JaxPort said the cranes are being permanently relocated to service Crowley Maritime Corp.’s new liquefied natural gas-powered vessels, which will be based at Talleyrand.
Colliers International closes deals
Colliers International’s Northeast Florida office announced sales:
• Northeast Florida CEO Bob Selton and Executive Vice President Matt Entriken represented Eagle’s Crossing LLC in its acquisition of the Shoppes at Eagle’s Crossing at 464073 Florida 200 in Yulee. It paid $5.465 million for the 34,471-square-foot shopping center, buying it from SCGV — Yulee LLC.
• Senior Vice President Hobart Joost Jr. and Executive Vice President Guy Preston represented First Citizens Bank & Trust Co. in the sale of 279 acres along New Berlin Road to DR Horton Inc. for $45 million.
• Senior Vice President Gary Montour and Senior Associate Jeremy Martin represented Wayne Brooks in the $880,000 sale of a 10,000-square-foot building at 11196 St Johns Industrial Parkway to 11201 St. Johns Industrial Parkway South LLC.
Turner Pest Control climbs
Turner Pest Control, a Jacksonville-based provider of pest control services to residential and commercial clients in Florida and South Georgia, moved up five positions in one year to become the 48th largest pest-control company in the U.S. It also was the second-fastest growing pest control company in Florida on the Top 100 list, according to Pest Control Technology magazine.
Five area manufacturers place in Sterling Awards
The First Coast Manufacturers Association said five members were recognized by the 2017 Florida Sterling Manufacturing Business Excellence Awards.
Of the 120 nominated manufacturers, five Northeast Florida companies were winners or finalists:
Beaver Street Fisheries. Runner-up for companies of 200 or more employees. It produces fresh and frozen seafood products, meat items, protein combination meals and condiments for retail and food-service customers.
Rayonier Advanced Materials. Winner for national companies with up to 500 employees. It is a global leader in highly purified softwood cellulose specialties products.
UTC Aerospace Systems — Engineered Polymer Products. Runner-up for national companies with up to 500 employees. It designs, manufacturers, services and tests composites and urethanes for the defense and aerospace markets.
Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Inc. Tied for winner for national companies with more than 500 employees. It designs and manufactures medical devices to correct vision disorders. It tied with Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control of Ocala.
Carlisle Interconnect Technologies. Runner-up for national companies with more than 500 employees. It designs and manufactures high-performance wire and cable, fiber optic cable, avionics trays, racks and integrated system and complex assemblies.
The Florida Sterling Council is a public/private not-for-profit corporation supported by the executive office of the governor.
It annually presents awards recognizing high-performance manufacturers in Florida.
The First Coast Manufacturers Association is a nonprofit trade association serving Northeast Florida.
PRC Digital Media wins 3 Communicator Awards
Three videos produced by Jacksonville-based PRC Digital Media were honored by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts at its 23rd Annual Communicator Awards.
“Dream Home” is the story of The Arc Jacksonville’s program for independent living for intellectually and developmentally disabled individuals. The video won an Award of Excellence, the top prize in the category of Social Issues.
PRC received an Award of Distinction (Silver) for its documentary, “Troubled Waters: Connections and Consequences,” which chronicles the damage done to the St. Johns River and the aquifer. The program aired on WJXT TV-4 in November.
In the training category, PRC won a Silver for CSX Environmental Certification Training.
Ray Hays was the producer and writer for all three programs.
Crowley Maritime honored for wellness
Crowley Maritime Corp. said that for the fourth consecutive year, it has been honored as one of the Healthiest Companies in America by Interactive Health, a national leader for personalized wellness solutions.
Jacksonville-based Crowley is among 156 companies nationally being recognized for helping employees improve their health. More than 1,700 Crowley employees and spouses participated in the company’s Live Well health evaluation and wellness program in 2016, representing about 84 percent of eligible participants.
Crowley said that as it has emphasized wellness programs, employee health improvements have surpassed baseline trends among companies participating with Interactive Health.
A new look for 30th anniversary
Sight & Sound Productions, one of the first event production companies in Jacksonville, celebrates its 30th anniversary with a new look. It said its logo refresh is the most significant change in its visual identity in 17 years. “We felt it was time to freshen up our look to match the company’s vision,” says Marketing Director Victoria Staszewski.
Main Street America promotes Gaynor
The Main Street America Group promoted Dan Gaynor to senior vice president, chief underwriting officer. Gaynor previously served as vice president of commercial lines for the Jacksonville-based super-regional property/casualty insurance company.
2 join Alignment Healthcare
Dr. Theo Sai joined Alignment Healthcare as its Florida chief medical officer to oversee its clinical care model and all clinical personnel in Clay, Duval, Manatee, Pinellas and Sarasota counties. He is based in Tampa.
In Jacksonville, internist Dr. Dany El-Hajjar joined as regional medical officer.
