Brooklyn Zoës Kitchen becoming CAVA Grill

The five area Mediterranean restaurants are expected to be converted.

A third Zoës Kitchen will be converted into CAVA Grill, also a fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant.

The city approved a permit Aug. 8 to convert Zoës Kitchen in Brooklyn Station on Riverside at 90 Riverside Ave., No. 607, at a cost of $175,000.

Embree Construction Group Inc. of Georgetown, Texas, is the contractor for the 3,000-square-foot project.

The permit follows two others, both also by Embree Construction Group.

The city approved a permit June 30 to convert Zoës Kitchen in Bartram Village at 13920 Old St. Augustine Road, No. 101, at a cost of $285,101.

It approved a permit June 2 for conversion of Zoës Kitchen at St. Johns Town Center into CAVA Grill at a cost of $175,000.

That 2,230-square-foot restaurant is at 4624 Town Crossing Drive, No. 149.

Washington, D.C.-based CAVA Group bought Plano, Texas-based Zoës in late 2018 and has been converting the locations.

At least four of the five Jacksonville area Zoës are identified for conversion into CAVA.

In addition to the three permitted, the city is reviewing an application for a CAVA Grill renovation at 10422 San Jose Blvd. in Mandarin.

Zoës also operates at 240 Florida A1A in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Zoës offers a Mediterranean-themed menu that includes hummus, falafel, salads, soups, pitas, kabobs, plates, bowls and sandwiches.

CAVA Grill features a build-your-own line for diners to choose among bases, dips and spreads, proteins and toppings, including lamb meatballs, roasted vegetables and grilled chicken. It serves bowls, pitas and salads.
