Volstead owner planning another venue: Tipsy Manatee

A zoning exception application is filed for the former Brewz Craft Beer near Post and King streets in Riverside.

The owner of The Volstead speakeasy-style bar Downtown intends to open another venue in Riverside, according to an application filed Feb. 25 with the city Planning and Development Department.

George Cunningham, listed in state corporate records as the registered agent and manager of Brewzstead LLC at 115 W. Adams St., applied for a zoning exception to serve beer and wine at 2695 Post St. under the name “Tipsy Manatee.”

The location, near the corner of Post and King streets, previously was Dahlia’s Pour House and Brewz Craft Beer.

The 2,440-square-foot building was constructed in 1927, according to property records.

The property is within the Riverside Avondale Zoning Overlay. Park  & King Area Association and Riverside Avondale Preservation Society are listed on the application as neighborhood associations.

A hearing on the application is scheduled March 17 at the planning department.
