Community First Credit Union announced July 12 it bought land in the Northpoint Village shopping center in North Jacksonville and plans to open a branch there.

The shopping center, anchored by Publix Super Markets Inc., is at Yellow Bluff and New Berlin roads.

Community First said in a news release it acquired a 1.04-acre lot at the property July 11. Court records show Community First Credit Union acquired property from Northpoint Realty LLC on July 12 for $1 million.

The credit union plans a 3,300-square-foot branch with a drive-thru. It will feature a historical mural depicting the history of Cedar Point and the Northside.

“Our new North Jacksonville location is strategically located to serve our members who are both residents and who also may commute via this corridor,” said John Hirabayashi, CEO and president of Community First.

“Northpoint, Cedar Point and Oceanway have seen tremendous growth and we’re looking forward to being part of the neighborhood.”

Jacksonville-based Community First Credit Union of Florida has 19 locations and 355 employees.

Publix opened in November in the new shopping center. Dental Care at Northpoint and Zaxby’s also are in development.
