Costco Wholesale plans to open its new St. Johns County store at 8 a.m. Aug. 3.

Jacksonville Daily Record news partner News4Jax.com reported the opening July 18.

The store is at 655 World Commerce Parkway across the street from Buc-ee’s at southwest Interstate 95 and International Golf Parkway.

In 2021, Costco Wholesale Co. paid $2.5 million for about 17 acres at World Commerce Center in St. Augustine to build a 162,000-square-foot store that will include a tire center, liquor store and gas station.

“We’ve had comments in the other locations; bring one down to Palm Coast, bring one to St. Johns County, bring one here,” Costco General Manager Nash Myers told News4Jax. “It’s such a populated area.”

Myers said the store created 150 new jobs and there was “a great response to our job applications.”

Regular Costco hours are 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday-Friday; 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

It is Costco’s third area retail club after the first near St. Johns Town Center in Southside and a second near Collins Town Center in Southwest Jacksonville.

Costco built its first Jacksonville store in 2000 on almost 14 acres at 4901 Gate Parkway, adjacent to The Markets at Town Center.

And 20 miles west of that, the membership warehouse chain opened its second Jacksonville location in February 2018 on about 16 acres at 8000 Parramore Road, off I-295 and south of Collins Road.

The St. Augustine site is about 22 miles south of the Gate Parkway store.

While St. Johns County reviewed an application for Costco’s 18-pump fuel facility, there will competition across the street at Buc-ee’s, which has 104 fueling stations.
