Duval County hotels continue to report strong business, including the highest room revenue, average daily rate and revenue per room on record for September, according to data from the STR analytics firm released by Visit Jacksonville.

Total room revenue was reported at $38,743,160 – a 9.8% increase compared with September 2021.

The average daily rate was $106.92, up by 8.8%, and revenue per room was $70.29, up 10% compared with 2021.

Occupancy for the month was 65.7%, a 1% increase.

Hotels at the Beaches led at an average rate of $194.67. Northside properties reported the lowest average rate at $98.09.

Beaches hotels also reported the highest occupancy at 77.1%.

Downtown was the lowest in occupancy at 63.4% with an average rate of $138.44.

The report indicates a steady upward trend as the local hotel industry continues to recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

While the occupancy percentage in September was equal to that in 2019, the year before the pandemic essentially shuttered hotels for months beginning in March 2020, there were 20,280 more rooms sold because room inventory has increased in the past three years.

Compared with 2019, year-to-date occupancy is 73.5%, up 2.1%. The average rate is $112.38, 15.1% better than before the pandemic.

Room revenue in the first nine months of 2022 was $414,395,791 – an increase of 18.2% compared with 2019.
