The first rooftop bar and restaurant in Ponte Vedra Beach is scheduled to open June 27.

The 1912 Ocean Bar & Rooftop is at 619 Ponte Vedra Blvd., in the Cabana Beach Club, south of The Lodge & Club. It is part of the Sawgrass Marriott Resort.

It will be open to the public as well as Cabana Beach Club members and Sawgrass Marriott Resort guests.

The restaurant is named for the year mineral veins were discovered in sand dunes in the area.

The restaurant’s opening was delayed 2 1/2 years after the building sustained damage during Hurricane Irma in 2017, said Todd Hickey, general manager of the Sawgrass Marriott.

The building was redesigned to withstand storm surges. It is built on 75-foot cement pilings. If waves were to breach the dunes, the water would flow under the three-story building and with the receding tide that water would return to the ocean, Hickey said.

“This is solid concrete poured all the way to the roof. So this is not going anywhere,” he said.

The original Cabana Club was torn down. Construction began in July 2021 after 18 months of planning, permitting and community review, Hickey said in a text message.

Petrie Construction LLC of Aberdeen, Maryland, is the contractor. HKS of Coral Gables is the architect. Hickey said the project was a “multimillion- dollar rebuild.”

The building is 12,000 square feet with a total capacity is 496. The first-floor Sea Porch restaurant, which is private dining for members and resort guests, holds 184.

The 1912 Ocean Bar & Rooftop on the second floor has a capacity of 168 and the rooftop bar can accommodate 144.

On a clear day, the view from the oceanfront rooftop bar stretches north to Jacksonville Beach and beyond.

The rooftop menu offers four specialty cocktails priced $12 to $15, two alcohol-free cocktails, a sparkling wine and two red and two white varietals.

The rooftop menu includes oysters, flatbread pizza and a charcuterie board. Food prices depend on product availability and demand.

Happy hour is 4-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday in the restaurant only. It offers $2 off draft beer and wine and $3 off select specialty cocktails.

A charcuterie board is on the menu at the 1912 Ocean Bar & Rooftop.

Its regular menu offers wines available by the glass or bottle and 12 specialty cocktails.

Dinner is offered in the main dining room and bar area. It has floor-to-ceiling windows with ocean views.

Entrees include a daily catch ($45), seared 8-ounce filet ($54) and the 1912 “meatloaf” ($25), a vegetarian offering made with plant-based protein.

Sawgrass Marriott Executive Chef Edgar Maldonado created the menu.

The restaurant is open nightly from 4-10 p.m. Reservations can be made at 1912oceanbarandrooftop.com. Complimentary valet parking is required. Only credit cards are accepted.
