K1 Speed, which says it is the world’s largest indoor electric kart racing operator, is now operating Autobahn Indoor Speedway & Events in Jacksonville.

Irvine, California-headquartered K1 Speed announced Jan. 9 it acquired nine Autobahn and two Accelerate locations.

The Jacksonville speedway is in an 80,000-square-foot building at 6601 Executive Park Court N. in South Jacksonville. It opened in 2014.

“Over the coming weeks, all nine Autobahn locations and its two sister Accelerate locations will transition to the look and feel of K1 Speed,” K1 Speed said in a news release.

“While the ‘arrive and drive’ all-electric karting experience remains largely unchanged, we’ll enhance opportunities for their more serious racers.”

K1 Speed said it plans additions to the Autobahn locations.

“While most existing Autobahn locations currently offer limited food and drink options, we’re going to start adding our Paddock Lounge café at every center to provide guests with more choices,” it said in the release.

“Additionally, each center will soon get an arcade with an array of video games, prize machines, and skill-based games.”

Founded in 2003, K1 Speed says it now has 83 locations in 29 states and nine countries.

In Florida, K1 Speed also has centers in Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, Miami-Medley, Orlando and Tampa Bay with Rivieria Beach coming soon.

Internationally, K1 Speed has operations in Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, France, China and South Korea with the Dominican Republic, Italy and Kuwait coming soon.

“We feel privileged doing business with a company we’ve long respected,” Susan Danglard, K1 Speed co-owner/founder and director of marketing, said in a news release.

“Autobahn’s success speaks for itself, so taking over ownership of their locations is an immense honor for our brand.”
