A creator of the Sip n’ Smash restaurant that recently opened in The Palms at Gate Parkway in South Jacksonville is working on a new concept called Sauce N’ Bone, according to a sign permit and state corporate records.

A first location appears to be in Justin Plaza, an Atlantic Boulevard shopping center owned through Jacksonville-based Ash Properties, which also is the landlord at The Palms at Gate Parkway.

Jason Malih, an owner of Sip n’ Smash, is shown in state corporate records as the registered agent and incorporator of Sauce N Bone Inc., whose logo is Sauce N’ Bone.

He and corporate officers Lina Dahi, as president, and Aneta Ly, as vice president, registered the name May 20 with the Florida Division of Corporations.

The saucenbone.com website calls it “the place for wings” and shows that “bold flavors are coming soon.” The site includes images of chicken wings in sauce and of french fries.

It announces: “Flavor first. No shortcuts. Sauce it, dust it, dip it.” The site also promotes: “Bold Flavors. Real Ingredients. No Shortcuts. That’s the Sauce N’ Bone promise.”

It asks those interested to follow the site for launch updates, menu drops and opening announcements. It lists operating hours as 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

It does not include an address, although the city issued a permit July 24 for a wall sign for Sauce N’ Bone at 10916 Atlantic Blvd., Unit 23, at a project cost of $3,000. The address is in Justin Plaza, along Atlantic Boulevard between St. Johns Bluff Road and Mindanao Drive. The center is across from Arlington Toyota.

The 1,064-square-foot space, previously Sushi N Wok, is between Thai Blossom Bistro and Fit Meals, according to an Ash Properties site brochure.

Malih and Elias Ishak opened Sip n’ Smash on July 8 at 9540 Gate Parkway, Unit 115, in The Palms at Gate Parkway, which is across the parkway from The Block Jax.

Sip n’ Smash offers burgers, fries, onion rings, sauces made in-house, milkshakes and lemonade.

Sip n’ Smash also offers mini donuts from The Mini Bar, a Northeast Florida brand that previously operated storefronts in Jacksonville Beach, Fleming Island and Deerwood.

Malih also is an agent or director of several other restaurants and markets.

An email to Sauce N’ Bone could not be delivered as of Sunday.
