Fat Tuesday, a frozen cocktail bar, is returning to Jacksonville.
It was an original Jacksonville Landing tenant when the dining, retail and entertainment complex opened in 1987 in Downtown Jacksonville at what is now Riverfront Plaza. Fat Tuesday closed that location in 1997, when the lease was not renewed.
Daily Record news partner News4Jax reported July 23 that Fat Tuesday plans to move into the former Rain Dogs at 1045 Park St. in Five Points.
Fat Tuesday said on its Instagram page, @fattuesdayjacksonville, that it was coming soon.
The chain also serves traditional cocktails. There is a limited food menu at some locations, according to its website.
The frozen drinks come in fruit punch flavors as well as piña colada, margarita and Bellini. Each can be garnished with a shot of rum known as a “floater.”
Frozen drinks have names such as 190 Octane, Rocket Fuel and Cat 5 Hurricane.
Fat Tuesday started in 1984 in New Orleans. There are almost 90 locations, primarily in warm-weather tourist destinations, the website says.
Attempts to reach the Fat Tuesday corporate offices for comment were unsuccessful.
