A week before the first home preseason game Aug. 21, the city issued a permit Aug. 13 for the Jacksonville Jaguars to add temporary seating at an estimated project cost of $2.12 million.
The project comes as the city and the NFL franchise renovate EverBank Stadium into the “Stadium of the Future.”
The seating is for the upper and lower club risers in the East and West Clubs at the Downtown stadium.
“In order to maximize capacity for our fans in 2026, we are in the process of adding temporary seating in the West and East Club patios and in a few other areas that have been modified during construction,” said Lyndsay Rossman, Jaguars business communications director, in an email Aug. 7.
“The build is similar to what one would find at the Florida-Georgia football game,” she said.
InProduction, which has 10 locations around the country, is shown as the contractor. The company provides seating systems for stadiums, amphitheaters, golf courses, auto sports facilities and other venues.
The $1.4 billion stadium renovation means the Jaguars will play at a limited capacity at home games this year and then move most of their home games to Orlando during the 2027 season. The team returns to the renovated Stadium of the Future in 2028.
In 2026, the Jaguars will play their home games at a capacity of 42,507, or 62% of the usual capacity.
The first home preseason game of 2026 is set for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 21 vs. the Carolina Panthers.
Kickoff for the regular season is a home game scheduled for 1 p.m. Sept. 13 against the Cleveland Browns.
