Each June, attorneys from around the country convene at The Florida Bar’s Annual Convention. The gathering provides several days of inspiring and educational presentations, valuable CLE and networking opportunities and, most important, the Puppy Pit.
The annual convention is also a time for The Florida Bar, its various sections and committees and Funding Florida Legal Aid, formerly the Florida Bar Foundation, to recognize individuals and programs that have gone above and beyond.
This year, Three Rivers Legal Services received multiple awards at the convention, highlighting the breadth and quality of services provided by its dedicated staff and pro bono program services.
Angela Caldwell, public benefits managing attorney at Three Rivers, was this year’s recipient of the Leader in the Law Award presented by the Florida Association of Women Lawyers.
This award is presented to a member in each chapter of FAWL who is licensed to practice in Florida and has earned the respect of others professionally; been involved in legal and nonlegal activities for the betterment of their local communities; exemplified the qualities of a positive role model; advanced the cause of women in their local community; and been an active member of FAWL.

Three Rivers Litigation Director Kevin Rabin was presented with the Goldstein-Van Nortwick Award for Excellence for his work on the Florida Tenant Eviction Answer Form project.
The Goldstein-Van Nortwick Award honors a project involving significant impact work performed by a grantee of Funding Florida Legal Aid. Rabin was honored alongside representatives from Coast to Coast Legal Aid, Florida Legal Services, Legal Services of Greater Miami and Legal Services of North Florida for their work on this project.
Three Rivers Legal Services was one of two finalists — along with Jacksonville Area Legal Aid — for the L. Michael Roffino Pro Bono Award, which recognizes Florida pro bono programs.
The award is presented by The Florida Bar’s Solo and Small Firm Section. Chair, John Maceluch Jr. presented the award to Three Rivers Pro Bono Director Samantha Howell, who accepted on behalf of Three Rivers Legal Services.
