Take 5 Oil Change is planning a Middleburg location, making it the third in Clay County.

It is proposed on the east side of Blanding Boulevard just south of Old Jennings Road and about 1.5 miles north of the First Coast Expressway.

The vacant parcel is owned by Michael Chao of Jacksonville, Angela Chao of Destin and Maurice Chao of Orlando.

Jacksonville-based BGE Inc. is the civil engineer. COR3 Design LLC, of Greenville, South Carolina, is the architect for the store.

The Clay County Development Review Committee is scheduled to discuss the Take 5 project June 25 as part of the county’s commercial development plan review process.

Take 5 was founded as Rapid Oil Change in 1984 in Louisiana. It initially offered oil changes, minor repairs and other maintenance services and added “stay-in-your-car” oil changes in 1996. According to take5.com, it was the first oil change provider to offer the service.

Take 5 has almost 1,300 company-owned and franchised service centers across North America. It entered the Florida market in 2016.

Two other Clay County stores are open. An Orange Park store at 804 Blanding Blvd. opened in 2017 and a Green Cove Springs location started operating at 1726 Verdad St. on April 30.
