• At 6:30 p.m. Sept.6, the City will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. The event is at the Jacksonville Landing Downtown and is organized by the City, the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and OneJax. The event is free and open to the public. The event, with the theme “Moving Forward with Compassion and Hope,” will pay tribute to the police, fire and military personnel who responded to the devastation. The master of ceremonies will be Melissa Ross of WJCT and will feature remarks from federal, state and local officials. There will also be an interfaith prayer offered for those impacted by the Sept. 11 events.
