IDEA Public Schools intends to break ground April 27 on its IDEA River Bluff campus in Arlington.

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry and state House of Representatives Speaker-designate Paul Renner are scheduled to attend the 9 a.m. event along with leaders from IDEA Public Schools.

The public charter school is at 2354 University Blvd. N., south of Jacksonville University.

IDEA Public Schools also is opening the IDEA Bassett school at 1845 Bassett Road in Northwest Jacksonville. Together, the schools will serve a combined 1,000 children during the 2022-23 school year, IDEA said in a news release.

Each campus will enroll 500 students in kindergarten, first, second and sixth grades. Two new grade levels will be added each year until the campuses become full K–12 schools by 2028.

Initial enrollment is determined through a random lottery selection process each February. However, families may apply for enrollment at any time.

Interested families can apply at www.ideapublicschools.org/apply.

Headquartered in Weslaco, Texas, IDEA Public Schools has 37 schools in Texas, Louisiana and Florida.

It says on its website that since its first graduating class in 2007, 100% of its seniors have been accepted to colleges and universities.
