Strayer University is coming to Brooklyn.

The private university, which focuses on business, IT, health care and career-related degrees, signed a lease for 4,560 square feet of space at the former HobNob restaurant at 220 Riverside.

The five-story, 294-unit 220 Riverside apartments have first-floor commercial space.

Strayer is leasing one of three first-floor tenant spaces.

Anejo Cocina Mexicana is leasing 3,714 square feet that previously was Brixx Wood Fired Pizza. The 6,667 square feet that housed the Sbraga & Co. restaurant is available.

Franklin Street Senior Associate Ricky Ostrofsky said Strayer intends to open by September.

“It will serve as their recruitment hub, learning center, and administrative office,” he said.

The city approved a permit for Auld & White Constructors LLC to build-out space for Strayer at a cost of $300,000.

Strayer’s primary Jacksonville location is at 8375 Dix Ellis Trail, Suite 200, in the Prominence office park in Baymeadows.

Ostrofsky said 220 Riverside landlord Mid-America Apartments gutted the Sbraga space and does not intend to lease it to a restaurant.

“We will be focusing on office uses,” he said.

Mid-America Apartments LP paid $3.3 million for the four-unit, 17,053 square feet of retail space in August 2019. Franklin Street represents the space.
