The Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront soon will undergo its biggest renovation since 2005.

All of the more than 960 guest rooms will be remodeled from floor to ceiling, including new furniture and fixtures. The Regency Club lounge also will be renovated, as will the rooftop fitness center.

Six meeting rooms will be added on the fourth-floor of the hotel’s Terrace Building. Refrigerators and safes will be installed in all guest rooms.

Hyatt General Manager Gino Caliendo said Westmont Hospitality Group, the owner of the hotel, is committed to making Hyatt an even stronger brand in the market.

“We feel this will reposition our hotel to attract new customers to Jacksonville,” he said.

Originally built in 2001 as an Adam’s Mark, Hyatt took over management of the property in 2005 and then completely renovated the hotel.

The project is scheduled to begin April 7 and be complete by the first week of October, in time for guests to arrive for the annual Florida-Georgia football game.

Caliendo said the work will be scheduled in phases to allow the hotel to accommodate as many guests as possible during the summer festival season.

“We’ll be running a 650-room hotel while the work is being done,” he said.
