San Marco residential development continues with the city’s approval Wednesday for the construction of the 147-unit Home Street Apartments, also referred to as the San Marco Apartments.
Summit Contracting Group Inc. will build the four-story apartment building and a three-story parking garage at a construction cost of $15 million.
Catalyst Development Partners of Atlanta said in May it would break ground this month on the luxury apartments, which will be renamed.
The first residents will move in during summer 2019 and completion of all the units and amenities is scheduled for the first quarter of 2020.
Catalyst Partners paid $2.45 million in May for almost 1.92 acres at 1444 Home St. and 0.81 acres at 1059 Kipp Ave.
The property is on the Southbank near Interstate 95. Its address is 1444 Home St.
“The walkability and livability of the Southbank area provided inspiration to deliver a product that appeals to professionals and families,” said Catalyst Development Partners Principal Mark Mechlowitz in a previous news release.
He said the group’s focus is to create an environment with co-working conveniences, personal retreats and lifestyle opportunities. He said it will be “a differentiator in the market.”
It will comprise 87 one-bedroom and 60 two-bedroom apartments ranging in size from 612 to 1,151 square feet. Rental rates were not released
Finishes will include gourmet kitchens with table-size islands, granite counters, stainless steel appliances, walk-in showers, full-size washers and dryers, and balconies and patios for most units.
Community amenities include a 24-hour fitness club, resort-style pool with semiprivate cabanas, a summer kitchen with gas grill stations, pub-style dining areas and a fire pit.
