Sleiman acquires building in heart of San Marco Square

The property sits on the south side of San Marco Boulevard in front of the lions sculpture.

Sleiman Enterprises announced Thursday it acquired a 94-year-old building at the center of San Marco Square.

The property is the two-story, 8,200-square-foot building at 1974 San Marco Blvd. It is on the south side of the street in front of Balis Park and San Marco Lions sculpture.

The acquisition includes adjacent properties at 1980 and 1972 San Marco Blvd. Tenants are Starbucks and Beau Outfitters.

Records show the property was owned by San Marco Limited Partnership, led by investor T. Wayne Davis. Davis bought the property in 1990 for $900,000. 

“In acquiring these properties in San Marco Square, we intend to provide Jacksonville with an experience like no other. We’re confident this acquisition will only further elevate San Marco Square,” said Toney Sleiman, CEO of Sleiman Enterprises.

The 1974 San Marco Blvd. property, which is vacant and has been listed for lease, formerly was used by Bohemian Lounge, Indochine and Square One. The news release says the property is “a prime retail or restaurant opportunity to provide Jacksonville with a unique-to-market customer experience.” 

The property includes exposed brick, domed terrace doors and vaulted ceilings. It has kitchens and bars on both floors.

Jacksonville-based shopping center developer Sleiman Enterprises bought the Lakewood Promenade shopping center for $24.5 million in May. The company formerly owned The Jacksonville Landing.
