State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. will close its Jacksonville operations center at 8001 Baymeadows Way on Nov. 30 and lay off 300 workers.

The company notified the state of the layoffs Wednesday. The notice was made public Thursday.

The notice said the layoffs will be in two waves, 143 on Aug. 31 and the final 157 on Nov. 30.

State Farm announced in August it was closing the center. At the time, it employed 600 people in billing and customer service.

A Forbes Fortune 500 company, State Farm has been downsizing in Jacksonville since 2014, when the insurance group reported 1,160 employees at the Baymeadows office.

The employees comprise office staff, service management, analysts and technical support professionals.

A State Farm representative was not immediately available Thursday for comment.
