Cardinal Health intends to relocate its West Jacksonville medical products distribution center this summer from Perimeter West Industrial Park into a larger building in Westlake Industrial Park.
Corporate Communications Manager Erica Lewis said the new site will be operational in July.
The city is reviewing a permit application for Becknell Services LLC to build-out a Westlake Industrial Park warehouse for Cardinal Health at a cost of $2.3 million.
Becknell developed the 185,686-square-foot warehouse building last year at 12075 Pritchard Road in Westlake, which is in far west Jacksonville.
Cardinal Health’s Northeast Florida presence includes a pharmacy operation in Southside at 4810 Executive Park Court and the 138,000-square-foot medical products and services warehouse it leases at 6595 Pritchard Road in Perimeter West Industrial Park, at northeast Pritchard Road and Interstate 295.
Colliers International Florida Executive Director Guy Preston and Senior Associate Seda Preston represent Becknell in landlord leasing and property management.
Guy Preston said CBRE Inc. Senior Vice President Terry Quarterman and Associate Ben Stewart represented Cardinal Health in the lease deal.
The permit in review comprises alterations to the existing speculative building for tenant use, including warehouse air conditioning, dock equipment and office area expansion.
The property owner is Pritchard Road Florida Becknell Investors.
Cardinal Health, headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, says is it is a global health care services and products company serving hospitals, health systems, pharmacies, ambulatory surgery centers, clinical laboratories and physician offices.
The company says Cardinal Health connects patients, providers, payers, pharmacists and manufacturers for integrated care coordination.
It has about 50,000 employees in 46 countries. It ranks among the top 25 on the Fortune 500.
In April 2018, Daniel Fogarty Jr., senior vice president of Lyons, Illinois-based Becknell Industrial, said Becknell expected to close by June 1 on the purchase of its first parcel, about 18 acres, and start construction immediately on the 186,000-square-foot spec building.
The city issued the construction permit Nov. 13, 2018, for the structure at a cost of $7 million. Other permits that included roofing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other work, boosted that to $9.8 million.
The tenant permit for Cardinal Health boosts that to $12.1 million.
Westlake Industrial Park is along Pritchard Road west of I-295 and west of Westside Industrial Park.
It is anchored by Southeast Toyota Distributors LLC, BJ’s Wholesale Club and Georgia-Pacific, among other users.
Westlake Industrial Park is owned by Atlanta-based Westlake Land Management Inc., part of Atlanta-based Norfolk Southern.
