Plans show the city is reviewing a permit application for construction of a 6,510-square-foot clinic within the 203,658-square-foot Walmart Supercenter at 12100 Lem Turner Road at a cost of $350,000.
Walmart Real Estate Business Trust is listed as the owner of the property, which is near Interstate 295 in Northwest Jacksonville.
No contractor is listed. Massa Multimedia Architecture of Neptune, New Jersey, is shown as the architect.
Property records show Walmart built the store in 1994.
Bentonville, Arkansas-based Walmart wants to open seven health clinics in Northeast Florida.
The city recently issued a permit for construction of the first in Duval County.
Issued March 19, the permit is for construction of a Walmart Health clinic at the retailer’s Southwest Jacksonville Supercenter in Collins Plaza.
Golden & Associates Construction LLC of Birmingham, Alabama, is the contractor for the $900,000 construction of a 6,495-square-foot clinic that will be an expansion of the Supercenter at 7075 Collins Road.
Walmart Health offers primary care, urgent care, dental and lab services, imaging, counseling, and optical and hearing services.
In addition to Lem Turner and Collins Plaza, Walmart intends to build clinics at 6830 Normandy Blvd., 11900 Atlantic Blvd., 4250 Philips Highway and in Middleburg.
Walmart announced Sept. 17 in a blog post it would build seven Walmart Health centers in Jacksonville, with the first opening in early 2021. Walmart opened its first center in September 2019 in Dallas, Georgia.
