The University of North Florida’s Coggin College of Business established the Coggin Graduate and Executive Programs department and named Lakshmi Goel as associate dean.

The new department offers executive training and consulting to businesses while developing industry partnerships for professional mentoring, internship and job opportunities for students, UNF said in a news release.

“Lakshmi is a talented and capable leader, and she has a strong vision for the future of our graduate programs and for the development of our executive education programs,” said Richard Buttimer, Coggin College of Business dean, in the release.

“I am confident that under her leadership, our graduate programs will continue to grow in stature and size, and that we will quickly develop a robust set of executive education offerings.”

Goel is a professor of information systems and former chair of the college’s management department.

She has a doctoral degree in decision and information sciences and a master’s in computer science from the University of Houston, a master’s in computer applications from the University of Pune, and a bachelor’s in commerce from the University of Mumbai.

The new courses of study feature class scheduling designed to meet the needs of working professionals and certificate programs in addition to traditional degree tracks.

The college also expanded its classroom space and curriculum at UNF’s Downtown Jacksonville campus at The Barnett.

The Coggin College of Business offers MBA, global MBA and accounting master’s programs as well as specialty graduate-level studies including management, logistics and supply chain management and business analytics.
