Restaurant Notes: Charleys Cheesesteaks at Walmarts; Zaxby’s to Northpoint Village

McDonald’s to update in Baymeadows; Five Guys at Bartram Park.

The city issued permits Feb. 2-3 for tenant improvements for Charleys Cheesesteaks, also called Charleys Philly Steaks, in two area Walmart Supercenters.

It issued a permit Feb. 3 for the 2,124-square-foot build-out at 9860 Hutchinson Park Drive in Arlington at a cost of $175,000.

It issued a permit Feb. 2 for the $90,000 build-out of 2,170 square feet at 6830 Normandy Blvd. in West Jacksonville.

Charleys began opening within Walmarts in November 2020.

Zaxby’s to Northpoint Village

Zaxby’s intends to build a 70-seat restaurant along New Berlin Road on a 1.04-acre outparcel at Northpoint Village Shopping Center, which is anchored by Publix Super Markets Inc.

Commonwealth Jasz Inc. bought the land Nov. 12 for $850,000.

Northpoint Village is at Yellow Bluff and New Berlin roads.

Civil engineer Goodson, Bergen & Associates asked JEA about service availability.

McDonald’s in Baymeadows

The city is reviewing a permit application for McDonald’s to update its restaurant, including the McCafe, at 11320 Baymeadows Road. 

Five Guys at Bartram Park

Five Guys Burgers and Fries wants to update its 3,242-square-foot restaurant at 13760 Old St. Augustine Road at a cost of $185,000 in the Shoppes at Bartram Park.

It intends to add new dining tables, chairs, front counters and new finishes through the dining room, restrooms and front kitchen.
