The weather was perfect, the crowd was huge and the chili was hot at the Young Lawyers Section Chili Cook-off on Feb. 19 at Riverside Arts Market.
Thirty-two teams competed and about 3,000 members of the public joined us for the festivities.
Despite being canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the high level of enthusiasm for the charitable event returned among the legal community and from the public.
This year’s beneficiary of the proceeds, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida, is a mentoring organization that creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
With the contributions from our corporate sponsors and the teams who participated, we were able to raise approximately $20,000 for the organization.
“Thank you all again for the opportunity to partner on the chili cook-off,” said Sara Alford, CEO of BBBS. “We are especially thankful for the partnership and communication as we navigated the challenges of 2020 and 2021.”
Special thanks go to North Florida Financial for sponsoring our new Chili Championship Belt and to Miller Electric Co. for providing a generator.
