The Honorable Harvey E. Schlesinger Spirit of Giving Luncheon is Dec. 8 at The River Club Downtown.

This year’s Spirit of Giving speaker is State Attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit Melissa Nelson.

Elected in 2017 and reelected without opposition in 2021, Nelson established several “smart justice” initiatives including reform of the juvenile civil citation process and the creation of Florida’s first Conviction Integrity Review.

Nelson will discuss how the State Attorney’s Office pursues justice in criminal actions and highlight the role of the criminal defense Bar in ensuring the justice system works as it should.

In addition to the remarks from Nelson, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida will present “Spirit of Giving” awards to lawyers who provide volunteer legal services to those in need.

The luncheon is free for members and $30 for nonmembers. Registration is open by visiting https://www.jaxfedbar.org/event/save-the-date-spirit-of-giving-luncheon or by emailing Maria Daniels at [email protected].
