WaterWalk announced that its lodging concept offering short- and long-term accommodations is open in South Jacksonville.

WaterWalk is at 8895 Perimeter Park Blvd. near Butler Boulevard and Interstate 95. It’s the Witchita, Kansas-based chain’s first Florida property.

The concept features 126 units, including 76 furnished “Stay” units and 50 unfurnished “Live” units. Sizes include studio, one- and two-bedroom units with and without balconies.

All units feature kitchens with full-size appliances including a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and range along with a washer and dryer.

“Jacksonville is a hub for travel, business, education and everywhere in between,” said Mimi Oliver, CEO of WaterWalk, in an Oct. 4 news release.

“We’ve already seen strong demand for this property – with over 60% of the ‘LIVE’ units presold before opening day, and we’re eager to begin providing the Jacksonville community with unsurpassed flexibility and upscale design in extended-stay.”

According to the WaterWalk website, “Stay” unit rates vary by date and length of stay. A studio from Oct. 14-21 is $768 plus tax. A one-bedroom suite with a balcony is $978.

Rates for unfurnished rooms start at $1,400 a month for a studio and increase to $1,750 a month for a two-bedroom with a balcony.

The “Live” units include utilities along with internet and DirectTV service.

Amenities include “The Living Room” lobby, featuring an espresso station, book lending library, workstations with a printer, seating areas, oversized wall-mounted board games and a TV.

The property has a fitness center, outdoor pool, patio firepits, lawn games and a grilling area.

WaterWalk has been years in the making.

The city began reviewing a construction permit for the property in 2019 and Waterwalk announced the project in Dec. 2021. The city issued a construction permit for the $11.13 million project in January 2022.

WaterWalk was founded in 2014 and according to its website has 13 locations now open in cities including Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Boise, Idaho.

WaterWalk said the Jacksonville hotel is its fifth to open this year.
