Citing his commitment to his family and increasing professional demands, Downtown Investment Authority board member Cameron Hooper resigned after spending 17 months on the nine-member board.

Hooper sent his resignation notice to Jacksonville City Council President Nick Howland on July 6.

Council approved his appointment to the board in February 2025.

In November of that year, Hooper was named senior vice president of development for Rise: A Real Estate Co. Before joining Rise, he was senior vice president of multifamily at Matthews Real Estate Investment Services in Jacksonville.

Hooper was nominated to the board by former Council President Randy White. Howland will be responsible for nominating his replacement.

“Throughout my service, I have consistently tried to approach each project through the lens of sound underwriting, market realities, and long-term financial sustainability,” Hooper wrote in his resignation notice. “While perspectives naturally differ, I remain convinced that Jacksonville’s greatest opportunities will come from decisions grounded in objective analysis, disciplined economics, and thoughtful stewardship of public resources. I have tremendous optimism for our city’s future and hope those principles continue to guide its growth.”
