Fat Tuesday is planning side-by-side concepts in Five Points for its return to Jacksonville, according to a July 28 release.
Fat Tuesday Kitchen & Bar will be in the 2,300-square-foot space at 1043 Park St., where it will be open daily with food, cocktails and frozen drinks. Fat Tuesday Social Lounge, a nightclub open Thursday through Sunday, is planned next door in the 2,700-square-foot space at 1045 Park St.
According to the release, Fat Tuesday Kitchen & Bar’s menu will include chicken wings, loaded nachos, smash burgers, seafood baskets and tacos in addition to drinks. Customers will be able to combine menu items for a personalized combo deal.
Fat Tuesday Social Lounge will serve a more curated cocktail menu, a rotating selection of frozen cocktails and late-night small bites. A DJ host, live music and themed event nights are planned in the space.
The release did not specify hours of operation or a targeted opening date.
“Downtown Jacksonville has exactly the kind of energy we build Fat Tuesday around, watch parties, live music and people out looking for a good time,” Alex Monahan, Fat Tuesday CEO, said in the release. “This is a city that knows how to have fun and we’re excited to be part of it.
The walkable Five Points entertainment district attracted the company to the location, the release said. However, the Jacksonville Fat Tuesday will not have a grab-and-go frozen drink window as it does at some other locations.
Jacksonville is planned to be the 11th in Fat Tuesday’s new concept of “experience-led, full-service flagships.”
Fat Tuesday was an original Jacksonville Landing tenant when the dining, retail and entertainment complex opened in 1987 in Downtown Jacksonville at what is now Riverfront Plaza. Fat Tuesday closed that location in 1997, when the lease was not renewed.
Fat Tuesday started in 1984 in New Orleans. There are almost 90 locations, primarily in warm-weather tourist destinations, the website says.
