NRG Adventure Park wants to start mobilizing toward build-out in Southside Commons, a Sleiman Enterprises shopping center at Southside Connector and Tredinick Parkway in Arlington, north of Regency Square Mall.
The city is reviewing a permit for contractor Greenlogic LLC of Orlando to demolish the interior space at the former Bealls store to prepare it for tenant build-out for NRG, an indoor playground. The demolition project cost is estimated at $12,000.
The operator is listed as T Park Jacksonville FL LLC doing business as NRG Adventure of Flushing, New York.
The flyer for Southside Commons, which is owned by Jacksonville-based Sleiman Enterprises, shows NRG Adventure Park in the closed 80,000-square-foot Bealls space at 860 Commerce Center Drive.

A sign in the window has shown that NRG is coming soon.
The playnrg.com site says it has a park “coming soon” at 660 Commerce Center Drive, which is the center’s general address, in Jacksonville. Buildings and spaces in Southside Commons are separately addressed.
The playnrg.com site says of the center:
“Prepare to stimulate your senses, and create electric memories at NRG Adventure Park. The ULTIMATE destination where families and friends ignite their eNeRGy in an EXTREME way. Our indoor playground takes fun to the next level.”
It says each adventure park includes activities for groups of all ages. It offers birthday parties, as well.
It calls itself more than “just a trampoline park,” rather an “epic trampoline playground” with features such as a ball pit, basketball, dodgeball, foam pit, harnessed climbing, jousting pit, ropes court, toddler zone and zip line.
NRG Adventure Park’s first location is in Springfield, New Jersey, and a second is in Fargo, North Dakota. The website shows 27 locations coming soon in 17 states, including three in Florida in Brandon, Jacksonville and Pinellas Park.
In October 2019, Bealls turned the store into R.M. Bealls, a brand of the department store chain, but closed that in 2020.
Southside Commons, built from 2004 to 2008, has such anchor tenants as The Church of Eleven22, Planet Fitness, Ross and Michaels.
The shopping center comprises almost 300,000 square feet of retail space among multiple buildings on 26 acres. It also has four available outparcels.

The contractor for the interior demolition tells the city in a permit written description that it wants to start work the second week of June. The project is expected to take four weeks to prepare for renovation.
