The Young Lawyers Section of the Jacksonville Bar Association held its annual charity poker tournament, “All in Against Childhood Hunger,” on May 7 at a sold-out event at bestbet benefitting Hunger Fight, a nonprofit dedicated to combating food insecurity for children.

The event, organized by the YLS board of governors, brought together attorneys, legal professionals and businesses for an evening of friendly competition in support of a meaningful cause.

With final sponsorships and donations still being tallied, organizers anticipate the event raised approximately $12,000 for Hunger Fight’s mission.

The tournament featured spirited play throughout the evening, with Chris Bua of Bua Settlements taking home first place, followed by Brandi Gartrell in second and Paul Cuffe in third. The event’s success was made possible by the support of numerous law firms and legal services companies across Jacksonville.

Carr Allison was the tournament’s Royal Flush Sponsor, at $3,500, while Marks Gray and the Bedell Firm contributed as $1,000 Prize Sponsors.

Support also came from Table and Gift Sponsors including McGuireWoods, Delegal Poindexter & Underkofler, Cobb & Gonzalez, Veritext, Holland & Knight, Adams & Reese, Harris Guidi Rosner, Klavon Mediation, Lexitas, Hall Booth Smith, Sheppard White and Creed & Gowdy.

The YLS is committed to community engagement and professional development for attorneys in the early stages of their careers. Events like the charity poker tournament reflect the section’s broader goal of leveraging the local legal community’s resources and camaraderie to make a tangible difference in Northeast Florida.
