The Winn-Dixie Company LLC announced June 22 it had completed the conversion of eight Harveys Supermarket stores in Florida and Southeast Georgia to the Winn-Dixie brand.
In a news release, Winn-Dixie Chairman and CEO Anthony Hucker described the conversions as “a defining milestone for The Winn-Dixie Company and an important step forward for the communities we proudly serve.”
Three of the converted stores are in Jacksonville at 201 W. 48th St., 5250 Moncrief Road W. and 5909 University Blvd. W. One is in Folkston, Georgia, at 3606 S. Second St. Two are in Lakeland and one each in Lake City and Ocala.
Winn-Dixie said each converted Harveys offers a product lineup that includes Winn-Dixie’s signature Own Brand products, fresh produce, meats and prepared foods. The stores offer Winn-Dixie’s Rewards program, weekly digital deals, buy-one, get-one specials and Price Hold savings.

“The locations also reflect the character of the communities they serve, with expanded authentic Hispanic offerings and enhanced selections across produce, deli, bakery, meat and seafood departments, tailored to the tastes of each neighborhood,” the release said.
Winn-Dixie said it planned to open new stores in Keystone Heights and Alachua in the coming months, followed by a new store in Zephyrhills later this year.
“The grocer is also exploring future opportunities to expand its footprint across its home state as it revitalizes its store fleet, reinvests in the communities it serves and positions Winn-Dixie for its next century,” the release said.
The announcement of the conversions came two days after an opening event for the Winn-Dixie at 201 W. 48th St. near Brentwood.
That store originally was set for closure, but the company committed to keeping it open as Jacksonville City Council members debated awarding Winn-Dixie $12 million in incentives to maintain its headquarters in Jacksonville.
On May 12, Council granted a $5.5 million Recapture Enhanced Value Grant and a $6.5 million Headquarters Retention Grant for Winn-Dixie to stay in its offices at 5050 Edgewood Court in West Jacksonville.
Previously named Southeastern Grocers, the company completed a deal in March 2024 to sell its primary banners Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket to German grocer Aldi. Aldi bought about 400 stores from Southeastern Grocers to convert to its discount concept.
In February 2025, a consortium of private investors led by Hucker and supplier C&S Wholesale Grocers acquired SEG and 170 remaining Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores to continue the banners.

The new owners registered The Winn-Dixie Company LLC with the state Division of Corporations on Feb. 5, 2026, shortly after the company returned to its headquarters at 5050 Edgewood Court in West Jacksonville.
In March 2026, the company announced plans for the Harveys conversions in Florida and South Georgia — minus the store near Brentwood, which it added during the Council debate — as part of a strategy to bring its grocery stores together under one name.
