A building permit for a proposed Boost Coffee + Energy location in Yulee moved closer to approval June 23 when the Nassau County Development Review Committee signed off on the project.
Following the DRC signoff, the project will be routed to department heads for the final approvals needed to apply a building permit.
Jacksonville-based Boost Coffee + Energy plans an 800-square-foot coffee shop with a drive-thru on an outparcel at the Shoppes at Midtown. The shopping center, at 463155 Florida 200 east of U.S. 17, includes Taco Bell, Early Impressions and Willie Jewell’s Old School Bar-B-Q.
Yulee-based Shops at Yulee LLC owns the property. Legend Engineering of Jacksonville Beach is the civil engineer.
The Yulee location is one of several proposed Boost drive-thrus.
Boost projects growth to as many as 450 locations throughout the United States by 2030, according to a company presentation.
“We are planning many, many stores over the next decade,” Boost co-founder Mike Murray told the Daily Record on May 22.
Murray said previously the partners plan to roll out about 10 corporate locations across North Florida before franchise sales begin in late 2027.
The company held a grand opening June 10 for its first store at 7253 103rd St. in the Cedar Hills area of West Jacksonville. BoostCoffeeEnergy.com shows a St. Augustine location, at 104 Ashourian Ave., is coming soon.
Boost is working on a West Jacksonville site along Normandy Boulevard, west of Interstate 295, that it expects to open by year-end. JEA issued a service availability letter for the 1.28-acre site May 22.
Boost is working on a Palm Coast site in Flagler County, expected to open next year.
Murray said the company also is pursuing additional sites across Northeast Florida, including Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Southwest Jacksonville and St. Johns County.
In addition to coffee drinks, the Boost menu includes energy drinks, protein lattes and shakes, refreshers, smoothies, teas, Boost sodas, kids’ drinks and snacks.
The Boost website says locations are open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
