Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Steven Hughes to the Florida State College at Jacksonville district board of trustees, a May 1 news release from the governor’s office said.
Hughes is director of operations for CMC Steel Florida, which recycles scrap metal and manufactures steel construction products.
A 32-year veteran of the steel industry, Hughes previously was a manager for CMC in Texas and director of operations for CMC in Arkansas.
Hughes received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
His appointment is subject to confirmation by the state Senate.
