North Carolina-based Shoe Show is preparing to build-out a store in Gateway Town Center in the Brentwood area.

The city is reviewing a permit for Westmoreland Builders LLC of Grapevine, Texas, to build-out 3,186 square feet of space at 5258 Norwood Ave., Unit 12B, at an estimated project cost of $154,386.

The space is between Dollar Tree and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, near Burlington.

Shoe Show Inc., based in Concord, North Carolina, is listed as “coming soon” on the Gateway Town Center flyer.

Gateway Town Center is off of Interstate 95 at the Golfair Boulevard and Norwood Avenue exits. It is north of Downtown Jacksonville.

Miami Lakes-based Gator Investments says on the Gateway Town Center flyer that the property is “Anchored by Winn Dixie, Family Dollar, Rainbow, Hibbett Sports, Rose’s, Burlington, Five Below, Planet Fitness & Dollar Tree with Shoe Show Coming Soon.”

Helt Design of Belmont, North Carolina, is the architect for the Shoe Show store.

The Shoeshowmega.com site says that Shoe Show Inc. was founded in 1960 in Kannapolis, North Carolina, and “is a leader in branded footwear, bags, and accessories for the entire family with 65 years of experience.”

With stores under different brand names, it has more than 1,000 locations in 47 states. The company headquarters and distribution center are in Concord.

It lists 10 locations in Florida, with the nearest to Jacksonville in Palatka.

Shoe Show carries footwear and accessories for men, women, children and infants. Types include athletics, boots, casual, dress, sandals, slippers, trends and more.

Brands include ASICS, Converse, Crocs, HEYDUDE, New Balance, Nike, PUMA, Skechers, Timberland, Vans and more.

The city issued a permit in December 2024 to divide 16,099 square feet of space to create two tenant spaces – Units 12A for Dollar Tree and 12B, now identified as Shoe Show.

The city issued a permit in May 2025 for the Dollar Tree build-out.
