Koi Sushi & Thai & Bar, a Ponte Vedra-based Asian restaurant, is planning an expansion at Orange Park Mall.

Owned by Yu Yun Cao and Zeng Lau, the Japanese and Thai restaurant proposes a winter opening, according to a news release.

Koi Sushi will take over the former 6,943-square-foot TGI Fridays near the AMC Theatres entrance at the mall. The larger footprint will allow for an expanded bar concept with craft cocktails in addition to the restaurant’s core menu, which includes sushi, pad thai and hibachi, the release says.

The new restaurant is expected to create about 30 jobs, according to the release from mall owner Second Horizon Capital.

“We are pleased to welcome Koi Sushi to Orange Park Mall, and their expansion represents the type of locally rooted growth we are proud to support,” said Randy Bowman, general manager of Orange Park Mall.

Koi’s first location is at 10870 US 1, Suite 102, in Ponte Vedra.

As of May 28, there were no permit applications on file with Clay County to build-out the Orange Park space.

Boca Raton-based Second Horizon Capital acquired the 950,000-square-foot Orange Park Mall in August 2025. The company says the property includes more than 20 food and beverage operations, and 120 national and local retailers in addition to the 24-screen AMC Theatres complex.
