Cantina Louie Mexican Street Food is up to a dozen locations.

St. Johns County issued a permit Oct. 25 for Cantina Louie to build-out a 5,300-square-foot restaurant at 3735 Longleaf Parkway, Suites 201-204, in the Shoppes of Aberdeen in Fruit Cove.

MicroTech Solutions-North Florida LLC of Jacksonville is the contractor for the $692,180 project.

It’s the second new Cantina Louie permitted in St. Johns County in recent weeks.

Cantina Louie President Ben Porter said the restaurant will open in May 2022, after another St. Johns restaurant opens in March 2022 in Julington Creek.

Cantina Louie also says it will open soon in Matthews, North Carolina.

Its nine existing locations comprise three in Duval County; two more in St. Johns County in Ponte Vedra and St. Augustine; and one each in Fernandina Beach, Palm Coast and Daytona Beach as well as one in South Asheville, North Carolina.

Cantina Louie’s ownership group is based in Jacksonville Beach.

Cantina Louie Mexican Street Food serves lunch and dinner.

The menu includes appetizers, nachos, salads, quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos, burritos, fajitas, entrees, desserts, a children’s menu, wine, beer and specialty drinks.

The partners opened the first Cantina Louie in 2014 in St. Augustine.
