Collections company Diversified Consultants Inc. is closing its Jacksonville headquarters and laying off about 250 workers.

The company said it would begin the cuts April 1 and expects to complete the process April 30, according to a March 25 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notice filed with the state.

The 26-year-old company specialized in accounts receivable management including first party, early stage, third party and commercial collections.

The company had branch offices in Louisville, Kentucky, and Tualatin, Oregon, according to its LinkedIn page. The notice says it has one sole office now at 10550 Deerwood Park Blvd., No. 309.

A letter, written to the state Department of Economic Opportunity by Diversified Consultants CEO Charlotte Zehnder, indicates the closure is “complete and final” and will affect all DCI employees and executives.

“DCI was already on the verge of closure prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, and has been attempting to restructure its debt obligations for several months The current pandemic has unfortunately brought an end to those efforts,” the letter says.

The letter also states that DCI employees are not organized and there are no unions or employee representatives.
