The German Schnitzel House announced on its website and on Instagram it closed March 22 after 16 years.

The restaurant is in The Fresh Market-anchored Harbour Village shopping center at 13245 Atlantic Blvd.

The Instagram message reads:

“With a heavy heart, after 16 years in business, the German Schnitzel Haus is closing. During that time we have had the great pleasure of serving our lovely customers, many of whom have become good friends. We also have been blessed with great employees. From Gitta who met everyone with a smile and made our wonderful desserts, to the constant smile and joyfulness of our two Katrina’s. And we will not forget Wayne, who has been a solid supporter of the restaurant as our Front of the House Manager, for over five years. It’s wonderful employees like these and customers like yourselves that made this decision to close very difficult. Thanks to all for your longstanding support!!”

The restaurant served German standards including bratwurst and schnitzels made with pork, chicken or veal. It also had a beer garden.

The business posted it had supplies and equipment for sale.

A phone call to the business was not answered and went to a message recorder.

The property site plan shows it leased 2.700 square feet of space.
