No surprises, last-minute attempts or staged coups.

City Council Vice President Clay Yarborough was elected president and Greg Anderson vice president Tuesday in unanimous elections to determine leadership for the coming year.

Lacking in drama but not consistency, both members have had support for the respective roles for months.

As reported in early March, Anderson had close to 10 commitments for vice presidency against Reggie Brown, who announced his candidacy last October.

In the end, it was Anderson, who during his speech specifically thanked Brown.

Yarborough was nominated by council member Stephen Joost and seconded by Lori Boyer; Anderson was nominated by Richard Clark and Johnny Gaffney. Each of those who nominated gave brief remarks regarding the character and leadership qualities of the two candidates.

Council leadership cycles run July 1-June 30.
