As Harris Teeter starts construction on its grocery and liquor stores in the Atlantic North shopping center, the property developer is preparing to add another building to fill in the gap between the supermarket spaces and LA Fitness.
The city is reviewing permits for Jacksonville-based Sleiman Enterprises to complete site work and construct a 4,700-square-foot shell building at 11901 Atlantic Blvd., Unit 700.

Estimated project costs total more than $1.73 million, with the site work at $1.24 million, shell retail space at $497,786 and a dumpster enclosure for $14,000.
Atlantic North is at northwest Kernan and Atlantic boulevards in East Arlington. Harris Teeter and its liquor store are being built between Academy Sports + Outdoors and LA Fitness.
A geometry plan shows the additional infill retail space at 4,699 square feet divided into three units. Those would be offered to tenants for lease.

Site work includes underground utilities, grading the building pad, paving, electrical connections, landscaping and irrigation.
The shell building work includes utility stubs, electrical services and finishes.
Target Contractors Inc., also called TCI Construction Co., affiliated with Sleiman Enterprises, is the contractor. Surage & Associates LLC of Ponte Vedra is the architect.
